An Artist You Need To Hear: Karen O.

Singer, songwriter and frontwoman of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's Karen O., is coming out with her first ever solo album called Crush Songs, on September 9th of 2014.
You may be familiar with O's work on the film Her (dir. Spike Jonze) a distinct and romantic tune, "The Moon Song". Or perhaps other works of hers such as the film score for Where The Wild Things Are (dir. Spike Jonze) as Karen O and The Kids. If you haven't given a listen to either of these, I suggest you do. Karen O's music is an experience in itself, her lo-fi ooh-ah recording style and poetic lyrics match her soft, light vocals.

To me, her songs are bright, soulful, magical miracles, peculiarity, sunsets, colored lights and slow dancing. Just give "Rapt" off her new album Crush Songs a listen and envision it for yourself.

Back To School Style x Grid Print

It's late August, and you know what that means. Cue school bells and bustling kids. School is back in session. Let me tell you something, when I was first starting out in highschool, I was petrified. Moving from a middle school to a high school full of pretty much adults was the scariest thought to me. Did I look okay? Was my outfit okay? Did my hair look good? I'm pretty certain a lot of young people on their first days of school have these thoughts rushing through their little heads, contantly critiquing and worrying themselves over minute, surface details that no one really pays attention to except themselves. If you were not, or currently are not one of those people, then I congragulate you! You've mastered an element of humanity that we all go through called insecurity. That's a rare skill, and you should celebrate your dexterous skills of being human.
However, if you are or were like me then hurray! That's OK too. It's natural to be a frantic little puppy when going to school, because let's face it, school -especially high school- isn't the most comfortable or safest place for young adults who are growing, changing and expressing themselves. Kids are mean, and trust me, I know.
But you are in luck because I'm here, about to drop some valuable information on your little minds. I wish I knew future me when I was a tiny, fourteen year old freshman in a school full of piranhas. I wish I could have told myself HEY!, high school really isn't all that cool and you should be confident and nonchalant about it! Because it's not worth it to be self conscious and fuss over your fellow highschoolers opinions of you. In 3 years, you'll be outta there, and trust me, everyone is going to forget about their high school drama and/or so called enemies that they made there, because high school is just a minor phase in life. College (and the rest of your future!) is so much more exciting, and I guarantee you bad feelings accumulated during high school won't matter when you're 18 and graduating from that prison. (can you tell I hated highschool...??? oops.)

Anywho I put together a little back 2 escuela outfit and I hope you luv it.

back to school Muji style

And voila! Here it is. If I actually had a school to show up to, I would wear this. Grid print is really fun and just so happens to be all the rage in the fashion world right now. The one's I've included above are $35 dollars and if you follow my polyvore link you can find them. The combination of this look with some cool strawberry socks will shout COOL KID as if it's written on your forehead. Okay not really, because that would be embarrassing.
This look is effortlessly cool, and the white Doc Marten 1461's go with anything and everything under the sun, such a good investment.
Don't forget your notebook, pens, paper, and colored pencils that I've included above, all from MUJI and extremely affordable. MUJI is my newest obsession. Who would've thought minimalism would be so fun?

I hope you enjoyed this look. Feel free to leave your opinions and/or first day experiences with me!

❤SHOP MY CLOSET ON STORENVY❤

I have some items listed for sale at my store Honey Cat. I've put a crap ton of work into this project of selling my clothes, its become my baby. I couldn't tell you how many hours is put into all this cyber junk. Who would've thought?
Any who, I setup a tripod, lights, and gathered up my pile of clothes. Here's the result! Slightly grumpy/sweaty/bitch-face me, modeling my own clothes.

I have a handful of items for sale so far, and I plan on adding a whole lot more when I find the time to do so! For now, here is the home of my new/used clothing and accessories. All of which are either brand new, never used, worn once, or gently used.

It would be so greatly appreciated if you check it out or share with a friend.

The link is here: honeycat.storenvy.com

I am working on including clothing with a range of different sizes, as I'm aware that not everyone is a size small. I would love for my store to appeal to all different kinds of body shapes and sizes, so I will do my best.
Apologies if nothing that is up as currently is not your size, I will have larger sizes coming soon!!

let me know what you think, and if you have any specific questions about the items feel free to message.

quick question:

I'm trying to purge my closet. If I opened up a shop and sold my clothes would anyone be interested? My clothes range in diversity/brand/size. I have unisex stuff and also femme stuff. I'd like to know if anyone would actually like to take a look or be interested in buying any of it.

ethereal downtown adventures

Here are some more snaps from my eventful day of filming.
If you didn't know, I love art and I love making it too. I died from happiness a little when I saw this poster that said "Paint or Die". Nice, nice, props to you friend, whoever posted this. Really though, paint or die. x______x
This whole wall was filllllled with posters and graffiti, stickers and paintings. People just pile it on, layer after layer so you can still see some paintings that were once there underneath it, too.
Also, spotted the love of my life while I was there. This beautiful Husky baby named Cash, just hanging out on his second floor window.
He was so so precious, I just wanted to give him a great big hug. Spot the tag at the right, just beneath the window? It says #HewittHusky. I googled it and yeah, he has his own twitter account. That melted my heart, I tell ya. One guy walking down the street told us the dog's name and that he thinks he's a mountain goat. Awwwwwww.

this day showed me a lot of adventure. it was easy to get lost and forget about myself, to float around like a ghost for a little while. I love blending into my surroundings, and I must say, this space felt like home. I see myself in this place in the future.

a dreamy technicolor adventure in downtown l.a

This week I took a trip downtown to LA's art district while filming some behind the scenes footage. I love downtown to begin with, so the art district made me fall in love even more!
In between shots I caught myself analyzing the sights around me, from the rampant murals to eccentric buildings and nooks.
Example A, this lovely buliding adorned with hearts hearts hearts & more hearts.
I played with colors, hues, and light leaks on the photos.

As I wandered about I spotted an art gallery and I decided to stop in for a look. I'd been walking around all day and I wanted to experience the art district for myself.

In the gallery I found that there was an exhibit of illustrated Tinder profiles cradled by iphone cases, showcasing the interesting yet strange world of Tinder! They were pretty comical. One profile shows a womans cleavage and even a stripper. Ha.

Such a good idea for an interesting little display isn't it? Very crafty. Very racy, i'm into it.

I spy boobs.

The gallery was full of a ton of other cool and exciting projects, including a community board of bad jokes and pick-up lines. It was fun and amusing to experience this strange gallery. I wish I'd took more photos! The arts district showed me a new part of Los Angeles that I'd never seen before. I felt awe inspired after the day was over, feeling like I'd experienced a new world..
